Moments and Stones

We have moments of "whoa!" and we have moments of "woe". There is mystery in both, pleasure in one, misery in the other. It's a choice to behold every moment, for if you are experiencing one or the other, no matter how great or how terrifying, you are indeed experiencing. As we experience every stone of our lives, we either lay them down into an ever-growing foundation or we stack them high into sight-blocking walls. We create something that either makes us taller for a better view of the vastness around us and within us or we create something that blocks ourselves from seeing and blocks others from seeing inside. Each experience, whether "whoa!" or "woe" is a stone and you are the mason. Others have also been or try to be masons in our own lives. Mothers and fathers try to do their best and gently place the whoa! pieces at our baby feet and let us wonder at the tiniest things until we are strong enough to become our own masons. Then there are times when others place the woe stones around us and try to keep us from wandering, wondering, wishing. Let me ask you this. If you looked out your window one morning and there was a man building a wall around your house, would you sit back and watch him work? Would you rush out with a sledge hammer and start tearing it down? Would you saunter out and whimper asking him kindly to stop? Would you let him build it higher and higher each day and just try to climb over it every time you needed to get out? It's a mysterious thing experiencing all the stones, the moments. But as you experience and become a self-sufficient adult, it is only you that should be your mason. Choose wisely what you do with your life's work and you will be rewarded with a path so undeniably wide, wondrous and expansive. Choose poorly and you will be rewarded with blindness, captivity and end up a prisoner of your own doing. You have a choice.

What do my nephew, my birthday and Formula One™ have in common? Not much! But I thought I'd throw them all together in one message to you, my friend! My Nephew, Colter: I cannot tell you how thankful I am for your contributions, no matter how big or small!
